So, full disclosure I have had an MFA in painting and sculpture and used to teach art history...now I am getting an associates in design that includes a LOT of CAD and 3-D software classwork. I find these two books to be totally fascinating because of the systematic way they approach building vocabularies and design patterns for the parts of speech. I could easily see building these out as a library of essential design masses.....shoot, I may just do that and see what I can make them do.

Really nice book, well printed, and new. Pocket size perfect to take everywear. In content i love it because it helps me understand forms and it's posible variation better. I study architecture, so it's been a helpfull book.

John Greven was born in 1961 in Oklahoma. At the age of eighteen he was struck by the idea that the “creator of the universe” couldn’t be as limited as he’d been taught. This began a search that took him through various religions, philosophies, metaphysics, and meditation. The search went on at various levels of intensity and commitment for twenty-five years. Since the first edition was published in 1966, this work has remained a standard text for American religious history. The 2002 revision, by Gaustad (history, emeritus, Univ. of California, Riverside) and Schmidt (religion, Princeton Univ.), retains the core material with a revised chapter structure, updated bibliographies, and some text revisions. In some cases, the revisions are simply rearrangements of chapter sections, while in others there is a shift in terminology e.g., using "African American" for "black" and replacing "American religion" with the more clearly designated "American Protestantism." While such changes are subtle, they do alter the tone of the work, bringing it more in line with current approaches to the study of religion and American culture. In the case of the last three chapters, the authors have done considerable revision and brought the history up to the turn of the century.
